Biographical notes

Martin Helm was born on september the 23th 1954 in Leiden. Before settling down in the Netherlands at the age of 16, he lived with his family in the Netherlands, Switserland, Belgium and South Africa. Now Martin lives in the Hague.

Mission

The concept of synergy is essential to Martin Helms work. From 1982 on he choses his exhibitionspaces/galeries/manifestations with the same care as he does when cooperating or exhibiting together with other artists. Often the exhibition is made for a specific space, sometimes the works are carefully created to fit a specific exhibition. “The context in which something is shown determines the way it is perceived.” Synergy: The whole is more than the sum of its parts.
